“Nobody’s Perfect” is a statement in which all can agree. Yet, we often do not like it when we are corrected about something. We tend to get defensive and dismissive when people point out an error in our thinking or behavior (I speak from personal experience on this one!). Correction can even lead to broken relationship. One might say, “how dare you speak to me that way!” Why do we do this if we all agree that “nobody’s perfect?” It seems we are not including ourselves in this statement. We need our eyes to be opened. We need the grace of God to help us receive correction. We need humility to receive truth that will only help us. Simply put, we need Jesus.
God helps us to grow to be humble people who can not only receive correction, but give correction in a winsome, humble, loving, and godly way. What a gift! Acts 18:24-28 gives us a beautiful picture of this kind of correction. Apollos is a supremely talented, gifted communicator that begins a preaching ministry. Priscilla and Aquila recognize a theological deficiency in his teaching. Priscilla and Aquila do not go on Twitter to blast Apollos. They do not go to other congregants and encourage them to leave the church. They do not mock and shame Apollos into changing. Priscilla and Aquila simple pull Apollos aside and explain to him the truth of God more accurately. In private. Lovingly. In a way to bring life to Apollos. It is an example for us in our lives!
This Sunday as we gather around God’s Word let’s rejoice that God gives us practical, biblical ways to deal with things in our lives that are relevant. And after we worship and take communion together we will grab some food as a community!
*** We are meeting in a new location throughout the summer! Due to pre-school summer construction, we are moving just up the street to Meadows Elementary School. Park in the lot at the school where 15th St. and Rowell intersect. Enter the gate toward the playground and follow the signs to our worship location. Continue to bring your own chairs or blankets. We will meet in a shady area on the grass. There will be Sunday School for the kids. Thank you for your continued flexibility and ability to adjust!***

Theological Word of The Week:
Baptism in/with The Holy Spirit
A phrase the New Testament authors use to speak of coming into the new covenant power of the Holy Spirit. This would include the impartation of new spiritual life (in regeneration), cleansing from sin, a break with the power and love of sin, and empowering for ministry.
