PLEASE NOTE: SUNDAY SERVICE TIME IS 3:30

The start of 2021 has been rough. There is a temptation when we feel down, depressed, and/or discouraged over life’s circumstances and events to do something to make us feel up, happy, and/or encouraged. Often it takes the form of “treat yourself!” Comfort food. Binge watch. Retail therapy. Favorite cocktail. We can also do things that are genuinely healthy. Exercise. Watching the sunset. Talking with loved ones. Planning something fun. Serving others. But there is an often overlooked thing to be done crucial for our mental health…

Lament.

When we go to God in prayer and lament over what has afflicted us or others, we are being honest about our situation. Not is denial. Not ignoring. Not covering up pain. But honest acknowledgement of our pain and sadness. To lament is to express grief or sorrow for something (or many things). We lament directly to God in prayer.

When we lament many things happen. We are honest about the brokeness of our world. We are honest about our helplessness in certain situations. We are honest about our utter dependence on God. We are honest about the reality that God’s ways and plans are better than the world’s ideas. We are honest about our future hope of heaven being an encouraging reality.

As we gather this Sunday we will lament over issues in our world. We will also go to God’s Word to remind ourselves of God’s glory. We will sing songs of worship and praise to our Creator. And we will fellowship with one another as an encouragement. See you then!

Please take note of ways to gather for Sunday Service at The Rock:

3) Finally we will provide a video link to the sermon. I will send out an email the week following with the sermon link attached.

Children's Ministry

We are providing live Sunday School!

Here is the plan: Children will be with their parents for the singing portion of the service. Children will be dismissed after singing to meet with Cameron and Courtney outside near the playground outside of the auditorium. Cameron will plan a short lesson, have a group activity, and supervise some free play. At the end of the service, Cameron will walk the children back to where we meet. This is 100% voluntary for parents. Your children are also welcome to be with you during the service. We believe this can be done in a safe and organized way. All activities will be outside. Every child will be encouraged to keep their masks on. We will do the best we can to encourage distance.
