Humans love stories. We find stories in novels, movies, songs, TV shows, radio programs, podcasts, sports, and personal life (and many more ways!). We are constantly telling and hearing stories. We love it. The Bible is the story of God’s revelation to humanity. It is the story of God’s work. It is the story that makes sense of our lives and world. All of us have personal stories of God saving us as well. The story of how one becomes a Christian is powerful!
Every Christian’s story is unique in that God meets us all in different ways. Some are saved through camp as a child. Some are saved through friends. Some are saved through loving parents consistent prayer and encouragement. Some are saved through scholarly books. Some are saved through music. There are uncountable ways in which people have been saved. But there is one constant. God is at work. God is behind every salvation story.
In our Acts passage this Sunday, we see God at work in a woman in the Roman city of Philippi. Her name is Lydia. We see in Lydia a unique salvation story. We also see elements of every salvation story. I look forward to worshipping God in this story. I look forward to worshipping God for all He is and all He has done! I hope you join me!
