What amazes you? I mean what makes you stand in awe and wonder? In some respects we are jaded by movie special effects and technology that we take for granted. But there are things in our world today that genuinely awe us. For some it is God’s creation - both the animal kingdom and the earth’s beauty. For others it is music, sports, or art. Some are awed by design or architecture. Others are awed by the taste of a gourmet meal. Whatever it is for you, there are things in this world that awe us. God has created all of us with the ability and propensity to be awed.

Ultimately this ability to be awed is to be directed at the One who most deserves to be awed - the God who has created all. When we find ourselves only awed by lesser things our priorities need to be adjusted. The things that awe us are designed to point us to God. We can give thanks for what God has given us. And we can then remind ourselves that God deserves our first and greatest awe.

This Christmas season let’s join with one another and celebrate by standing in awe before our Creator. God has designed all things for us to enjoy and be amazed by. Most importantly the coming of Jesus. May we reflect, rejoice, and celebrate the life God brings us in Jesus. We stand in awe!

"so that those who dwell at the ends of the earth are in awe at your signs. You make the going out of the morning and the evening to shout for joy." - Psalm 65:1-8

Children's Ministry

This week Rock Kids will be digging into the story of when God heard Zechariah's prayer, found in Luke 1:5-25, 57-66. The kids will learn the Bible point "God hears our prayers, so we trust his timing." Younger kids often pray in earnest faith, never doubting God will answer. But at some point in their childhood, doubt can creep in. Prayer is no longer a first response, but a last resort. Kids see that God doesn't always answer their prayers the way they want, so they think he's not listening at all. We ant to help kids see that God's answers to prayer may look very different than we expect, but he's never too late and he's never wrong.
