PLEASE NOTE: SERVICE TIME CHANGE TO 3:30
“The difference between involvement and commitment is like ham and eggs. The chicken is involved; the pig is committed.” This quote is both silly and true at the same time. But it makes us think. It makes us think particularly about church membership. Are we involved in church? We show up, receive, give when it is convenient, and look out for self above others. Or are committed to church? We have a mindset of giving, service, responsibility, others-minded attendance, and being an example to others by our faith.
Throughout the book of Acts I see a commitment model. The Acts churches go through both triumphs and tragedies. The church sees people come to Jesus and grow exponentially. The same church has people driven from their homes, put in prison, and scattered to far away places. The church sees people learning, growing, serving, and giving. The same church goes through what Hebrews calls “hard struggle with sufferings.” (Heb. 10:32) And through everything they were committed to God, one another, and other Christians in different locations. This is what church membership is like.
This Sunday we will look at Acts 12:1-5 in the context of membership at The Rock. I believe that we can be encouraged and inspired to commit ourselves to biblical church membership!
Please take note of ways to gather for Sunday Service at The Rock:
1) We are meeting outside at Manhattan Beach Pre-School for our Sunday Service at 3:30 pm. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, masks and Bibles! For a complete copy of our guidelines for re-opening CLICK HERE.
2) We will also be live on Facebook Live (NOT ZOOM). If you don’t feel comfortable joining us in person, are feeling sick, or have been exposed to someone who is sick stay connected through this live-stream - CLICK HERE at 3:30 Sunday afternoon.
3) Finally we will provide a video link to the sermon. I will send out an email the week following with the sermon link attached.

Children's Ministry
We are providing live Sunday School starting Sunday, Sept. 20!
Here is the plan: Children will be with their parents for the singing portion of the service. Children will be dismissed after singing to meet with Cameron and Courtney outside near the playground outside of the auditorium. Cameron will plan a short lesson, have a group activity, and supervise some free play. At the end of the service, Cameron will walk the children back to where we meet. This is 100% voluntary for parents. Your children are also welcome to be with you during the service. We believe this can be done in a safe and organized way. All activities will be outside. Every child will be encouraged to keep their masks on. We will do the best we can to encourage distance.
