Usually when we do things that take time and effort there is a reason. Spending years in college gives us a degree that opens doors for our future. Running a marathon is an accomplishment that is worth the work and training. Remodeling a house gives us a useful and beautiful place to live. Reading a long novel brings joy and satisfies curiosity of how the story ends. This Sunday at The Rock we are beginning a new sermon series in the book of Acts. The series will take a year of study, effort, and application. Is it worth it? Why would we invest in such an undertaking?
These are questions that must be answered to get the most out of our study. I believe there are life-changing reasons to study the book of Acts. I will share them this Sunday. From a hearer’s perspective answering “why study Acts” will make or break what one gets out of the series. If you are absolutely convinced Acts will speak to you and change you, you will be all in. After this Sunday, I believe that you will see studying Acts as a life-giving investment. It is worth it!
So come this Sunday as we get started in Acts. As a bonus, you will receive a small gift that will help in your own personal journey through Acts. Let’s get started together!
"He presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God." - Acts 1:3

Theological Word of the Week:
Healing
A gift of the Holy Spirit that functions to bring a restoration to health as a foretaste of the complete freedom from physical weakness and infirmity that Christ purchased for us by his death and resurrection.

Children's Ministry
This week Rock Kids will be digging into the parable of the lost treasure & pearl, found in Matthew 13:44-46. The kids will learn the Bible point "God is treasure, so we value him more than anything." Kids think concretely, so it's a lot easier for them to value tangible rather than abstract things. Most kids will easily agree that God is a treasure, but it's harder for them to know what that means practically. We want to help kids treasure God by putting him first & loving him more than anything else.
